The KaBOOM! National Partner program was created to recognize our largest funding partners. In addition to funding the building of playgrounds and programs that promote the importance of play, National Partners provide significant unrestricted funding to support the mission of KaBOOM!.
National Partners have both the local impact of a KaBOOM!-led build and a nationwide impact on the health and well-being of children and communities. KaBOOM! National Partners also participate in the annual Corporate Advisory Council meeting, where they give mission-critical input on KaBOOM! program and goals. Within the KaBOOM! National Partner program, there is also the Leadership Circle, in which members have provided long-term guidance and support for the organization.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group
In 2011, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! launched Let’s Play, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families active nationwide. Through Let’s Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group made a $15 million, three year commitment to KaBOOM! to help build or fix up 2,000 playgrounds by the end of 2013, benefiting an estimated five million children across North America. In the initiative’s first year, through grants and playground projects, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! built or improved 528 playgrounds in 48 states, Canada and Mexico and engaged more than 35,000 volunteers nationwide in the effort.
Foresters, a life insurance provider committed to the well-being of families, is a KaBOOM! National Partner and a founding member of the KaBOOM! Leadership Circle. In January 2011 Foresters and KaBOOM! conducted a Harris Interactive study that showed 77% of parents agreed that spending more time at a playground increases a family’s sense of well-being, a priority for Foresters. By the end of 2013, Foresters will have invested more than $7 million across multiple KaBOOM! program areas. In 2011, Foresters built 22 playgrounds and supported the development of a new state-of-the-art community volunteer planning tool, empowering communities to build and improve playgrounds on their own, a key KaBOOM! strategy in solving the play deficit.
JetBlue is committed to all the cities it serves and partners with non-profit organizations that focus on children, education, communities and the environment. Together, since 2006, JetBlue & KaBOOM! have engaged 2,636 volunteers to build a total of 13 playgrounds, which serve 8,680 children by providing a safe place to play in cities across JetBlue’s network. In 2012, JetBlue will be building five playgrounds across the network, including a playground build that the public voted to bring to the San Francisco Bay area, through the Vote Where We Play Facebook contest. Please fasten your seatbelts because it’s going to be a great ride!
Kraft Foods Foundation
In 2011, the Kraft Foods Foundation built five playgrounds as part of Delicious Difference Week, the company’s annual week of community service. The Foundation also provided mission support to KaBOOM! as a National Partner, in support of its commitment to fight hunger and encourage healthy lifestyles. To date, the Kraft Foods Foundation and Kraft Foods brands such as Kool-Aid and Oscar Mayer Lunchables have built or helped build 76 playgrounds with KaBOOM!.
MetLife Foundation began its partnership with KaBOOM! in 2008 and has provided nearly $1.2 million and contributed more than 14,000 volunteer hours to build fun and safe places for kids to play across the United States and Mexico. On August 27, 2011, the inaugural MetLife Bowl, a charitable pre-season game, was played between the New York Giants and Jets, with $10,000 in proceeds going to KaBOOM!. Together, MetLife Foundation and KaBOOM! are helping to build healthy communities for kids of all ages.
